How can I convince my mom to let me keep my pet?

I just bought a pet aquatic frog and I really like him. I live down at my school for most of the year and totally forgot about how my mom isn't really down for animals, for when I come home for breaks. How can I convince her to let me keep my pet? I'm already super attached to him and I don't wanna lose him.
