Things i need for dj'ing?

i am not wanting to scratch and mix stuff like that. i just want to play the music and go onto the next one. Cant i just get some big speakers and connect them to the laptop? i am wanting to get some lights too, do i just plug them into the outlet? what should i buy for what im trying to do?
