How long does it take to find out you have been caught speeding and have recieved points on your licence?

I live in MD and drive in DC where they have speed cameras. Most speed cameras don't ess points on your drivers license, only those that go face to face with a patrol officer. You might want to check my facts out by going on the internet in your state and asking my question.
