Is dark ugly?

Personally, I think that dark skin is beautiful!!!!! I'm so in love with such a gorgeous skin color. I think people, including myself, are sometimes just afraid to say that. I am afraid that I will offend someone because I'm pointing out a difference. I myself am very fair. There is so much tension about skin color, and it is just silly. For example, I was at a work party and they were ping out books to the kids. My kids chose a book called, "Shades of Black." It's a book that explains the beauty of each shade of African-American skin. A co-worker leaned toward me and whispered, "That's for black kids." She looked terrified. Like people would be so mad at me. We took the book. Why should I tell my kids they can't read it? I don't get that. It's important to embrace all cultures. That way, we won't have all this craziness in our society. But at the same time, it is important for people to allow themselves to embrace the white culture as well, and not just ume we are all racists. If we all learn about each other, we would understand each other more.
