Is Linguistics a smart career choice is one does not want to learn Spanish?
I chose to get my degree in Linguistics. I have ociates but am going for bachelors now. I chose this not only cause it interests me but I feel I have a natural knack for learning languages and that it comes quick to me. I am very good with catching onto almost all languages, mostly european. But without sounding mean, I am a bit biased against Spanish and I do not care to learn it which is possibly why I fail to learn it due to my subconscious feelings. Ive tried to learn it, even with software. So my question is, will anywhere hire a translator/interpreter if they dont know spanish? Honestly, i feel not learning spanish will keep me from having a career of only spanish translations as there are so many spanish speaking individuals in the us these days. I dont want to translate spanish all day. Any suggestions?
