Need help with Birthday gift for boss...something original please!?

I work in an office & the manager's birthday is coming up. The company is getting her flowers & a cake but the staff wants to get her something & we're stuck for something original & thoughtful. We don't know her too well but know that fragrance & perfumey things are out, gift certs to restaurants are out (just lost husband), she doesn't do much besides work so a relaxation thing is pretty much not an option. But we would like to give her something that's more than a general gift of gloves or a scarf (that's been done & she has a lot already). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Looking to spend around $50; her age group is late 50s-early 60s.
