Is he GAY?

I have a mate who recently was going to date a girl and she really liked him, excepting the fact he is a virgin at 25! And bit of a social introvert at best. However he totally screwed the thing up when a day just before the arranged date he attacked her with a series of insults and stated she was suffocating him (note they met on the net and never met really face to face). However prior to that he went on holiday and shared a room in Tenerif with another guy who also has the same lack of interest in women. When they came back they both informed they never went out clubbing or to tourist spots or anywhere just stayed in their room. The other guy and him always say they are *happy as they are* and the other guy has had no girlfriend or interest in a girl for the past 5 years. My mate also has never had a girlfriend and subsequently has no female friends either. Are they gay? And if so why all the secrecy? It's not a big deal! Out of the closet and into the street!
